Horizontal Barrel Finishing
A rotating horizontal barrel moves the parts and media through a sliding and tumbling cycle. The process can be selected for deburring, edge rounding, surface smoothing, or removal of suitable surface deposits before a later finishing operation.
The described range covers 50–1,000 L barrels. Rubber lining, polyurethane lining, and unlined steel arrangements are reviewed for the selected process. The belt-driven arrangement is described with a 33–50 rpm range; confirm the actual drive and permitted speed for the chosen model.
- Forward and reverse operation in the specified control arrangement
- Loading access and barrel closure matched to the batch
- Media, compound, and load ratio selected through a parts trial
- Separation and rinsing included where required
Suitable applications can include castings, forgings, and laser-cut or machined components. Send a drawing or samples, starting condition, and finish target to review the machine and recipe.

How the Finishing Action Works
As the barrel rotates, the load rises and slides through itself. Contact between media and workpieces produces the cutting or polishing action. Speed, fill level, media geometry, compound, and cycle time all affect the result; the correct settings depend on the part and process.
Select Lining and Media Together
A rubber or polyurethane lining protects the processing chamber and changes the contact conditions. Unlined steel may be reviewed for suitable work. Choose the lining for chemical compatibility, wear, workpiece sensitivity, and the intended media rather than treating one lining as suitable for every application.
Check burr removal, edge radius, dimensional change, surface condition, media lodging, and unload handling during the trial. Compare the full cycle, including separation and cleaning, against the required output.
